I’m trying to fund a new Openbank account, but I’m having trouble linking to my external account. What can I do?
We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Before you try anything else, please make sure that:
- The external account you’re trying to link to Openbank is an account that you own: the external account must have the same owner as the new Openbank account
- You are entering the correct account number, routing number, and account type when you try to link the external account
If you've followed those steps but are still having trouble, we have good news: there are a number of other ways you can move money into your new Openbank account.
- If you own another Openbank or Santander Bank account, you can easily make an internal transfer from that account into your new Openbank account. Sign into the Openbank app on your trusted mobile device and then tap on your new account. Then select Move money in and choose the account you want to use as source for your new account funding transfer.
- You can link a different account you own to your new Openbank account. It can be a different account at the same external bank, or an account you own at a completely different external bank or financial institution. Please note that you’ll need to follow the same process of adding the account number, routing number, and account type (checking or savings) of this different external account.
- You can also easily transfer money directly to Openbank from your external bank. Just sign in to your other bank online and start their process to initiate a bank transfer or wire transfer. Follow their prompts, and be sure to add your Openbank routing and account numbers.
