No Face or Fingerprint Sign-In | Openbank by Santander

I don't want to use face or fingerprint recognition to sign in to Openbank. What are my options?

While we strongly recommend fingerprint or facial recognition for an added layer of security and the most streamlined app experience, we also recognize that some of our customers choose not to use biometrics.

That’s why we’ve made it optional. If you haven’t already signed in to Openbank on a mobile device, you can download our app and use your User ID and password to sign in. Then, when you’re prompted to enroll in FaceID® or TouchID® on Apple devices or biometrics on Android devices, then select Not now.

If you’re already using biometrics but would prefer a different way to access your account, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Openbank app, open the menu in the top left corner of your screen, and select Security settings.
  2. In Device management, follow the steps to deregister your trusted mobile device. (You’ll be signed out immediately.)
  3. Before you sign back in, select the pencil icon next to your name and then enter your User ID and password.
  4. When you get to the screen that says either Activate biometrics (on Android) or Activate FaceID® or Activate TouchID® (on Apple), select Not now.
  5. Follow the prompts to get a one-time passcode. Please note that without face or fingerprint biometrics, you’ll need to get a new passcode each time you sign in to Openbank. Then, when you’re prompted to enroll in.
